To get a college scholarship you must be able to hit at a fairly high level. About ninety nine percent of girls playing travel ball are weak in this area. If you are able to land a scholarship, the really hard part just begins. You must be able to raise your hitting to another level. Most scholarships are re-evaluated at the end of each season. How well you are able to make the adjustment will determine if your scholarship is reduced, remain the same, or increased.
Of the one percent, a fraction of them can't compete at that level and they quit, a fraction perform about average and smaller fraction is able to step out of the box of average and become the best. The college softball world is very brutal! It will destroy you if you are not prepared. You must be willing and able to compete with about 20 others girls for playing time. There is no such thing as guaranteed playing time.
My daughter used my training to become one of the best. The word star was sometimes associated with her name. I can do the same for your daughter. Travel ball alone will not work. My daughter and I have teamed up. I will get your daughter to a higher level of hitting. She will use her reputation to market your daughter to college coaches. She has connections with all the coaches in her conference. She can get the attention of other coaches because of her success.
I saw a lot of Division 1 softball over my daughter's college career and saw a lot of good players. Most of them had one major weakness that kept them from being great. They were just average hitters.
The majority of girls are using a slowpitch timing technique to hit fastpitch. In slowpitch you wait until the ball is released, then you time your hit. You can have little success doing this with speeds of 58 mph and lower. At the college level, you have to be able to hit balls 60-70 mph, a reaction time of about 2.5 tenths of a second.
To accomplish this a good pre-load technique is required. There are many. You also must be able to generate a much higher bat speed and be able to hit to all fields.
Slapping is a specialty; an art done from the left side of the plate. Very few players can do it with very much success. It is a fairly new concept, only been around for a few years. I have taken this new concept to another level. There are 6 different moves that I have created. College coaches are looking for girls that can master this art.
